Jarosite and Hematite- Implications for Earth and Mars


Jarosite (KFe3(SO4)2(OH)6) is a relatively common on Mars, but is typically found in mine wastes on Earth. By studying jarosite dissolution rates and reaction products in the laboratory, we can constrain how long water was active on the surface of Mars and help remediate mine waste on Earth.
